Finally an Android unit for the LR2! Huge improvement over the stock navigation. TIP: it DOES work if you have the stock navigation, you just have to be clever and splice/connect the fiberoptic cable going to the stock nav. It's not rocket science, you just need shrink wrap and a paper clip. Here are some pros and cons. Cons: - DPI is too high, everything is too small. it's set at 160, but you can root the device (with much effort) and get it to 200. Things look nice and large at that resolution, and Google Maps fly. - No bluetooth tethering (just audio and calls). Bummer, because that means you have to tether over wifi. And an iPhone doesn't automatically broadcast the hotspot unless you enter the settings menu. - Sound over bluetooth is "meh". Noticeable loss of quality, but acceptable. You can still use the line in. - Bluetooth controls don't show track name or album art. But at least you can switch songs. - Steering wheel controls on the LR2 don't actually control the Android unit, but it does control the stock stereo, and you can adjust the volume. So basically it's the same as before. - "iPod" integration doesn't work. At least not with an iPhone 5C plugged into USB. Pros: - Beautiful high-res screen! Very responsive to touch. Looks great from every angle. Great brightness range. Colors look amazing. - Lots of on-board memory. - Very fast. Animations are smooth, and apps load quickly. Helps when you have 2GB of RAM and a quad code CPU. Google Maps won't work well with 160 DPI resolution though, so set to 200 if you dare to root this thing. Then it works amazingly well. - Good microphone, voice commands and dictation work accurately. Haven't tried a phone conversation yet. - Play store pre-installed. That's a big one, considering that Parrot Asteroid doesn't have that option. - The stock web browser is pretty good. - Installation is plug and play. You'll be fighting the interior trim though. - You can download an AirPlay app and literally mirror your iPhone's screen to it. - Android. Overall, this is a massive upgrade over either an empty hole or the stock nav setup. I haven't hooked up the reverse camera yet, but it's already providing immense value. Brings the car up to 2016 standards.
